A wet and wild weekend!

A rainy weekend didn't damper the spirits of Bakertown, as cousin Jake and family were in town for a visit! Here, Jake offers Finn's ear a yummy goldfish!
And then Jake showed us the gas stove, where you warm up those goldfish on a cold winter's night! On Saturday, we traveled to the playground for some sliding fun, and it turned into a slippy slide!
But the highlight was Finn's new push-wagon, allowing Finn to both store his toys...
But also, to learn how to walk a little! Finn did very well pushing it around the floor and walking behind it! Unfortunately, he can't quite go backwards yet, so in this case, he eventually ran straight into Barley.
Finn thanked his Uncle Sean and Aunt Desi, and they swapped stories on the couch!

Yes, Yoga Master

Finn got ready for yoga Sunday and exercised a little mind control...
"You can see me pull myself up...my strength is great, yes?" "Look into my eyes...my cuteness is strong, yes?"
"I can hide and peek, and am stealthy like a cat, yes?"
"Ok, canine friend...I command you to look where I am...my mental skills are strong, yes?"
"Mommy, I command you to put me down and let me eat that piece of fuzz. My powers of persuasion are strong, yes?"
Finn, it's yo-GA, not yo-DA! And to answer your questions:
Yes, yes, yes, yes, and no!

'GMG' in 'da house!

Green Mountain Grandma was in town for a weekend visit with Finn! Activities included Finn's first drum lesson from Uncle Charles! If there's one thing Finn's already pretty good at, it's banging things with his hands!
...Or shaking them to make cool noises!
Then Finn took his new musical learnings to the Kennedy Center for their annual Arts and Music Festival...there, he perfected the art of eating Cheerios while watching performances, and crawling around on the floor looking for fun!
Then the musical fun continued on Sunday at the Takoma Park Folk Festival...despite the extremely hot day, Finn loved listening to more music with GMG!He also did a little imitation of a sand lizard, raising his little paws one at a time to keep them off the hot grass, like a little lizard. (Sorry, obscure National Geographic reference)Finn capped the weekend with some more standing practice...getting bigger every day! Love,

What to do after you eat...

From Finn:
"Ok, this is really fun to do after you finish a big meal. Take a deep breath, smile...and...""Take off your shirt! You'll feel much more relaxed, and those green peas and rice need to settle in your tummy without that pesky T-shirt constraining you!"
"Then, sit back and reflect on that tasty meal..."
"Put one arm behind your head, smile at the camera..."
"Then put your other hand behind your head and let the relaxin' truly begin. I'm telling you, this is the life!"
"And that's what you should do after every meal. Trust me, you'll love it! Now, Dad, make yourself useful and get me a Scotch. Glenlivet, Glengarry...any Glen'll do."

Yeah, we'll get right on that, Finn. :)

Uncle Tommy in town...

Uncle Tommy was in town and stopped by for a visit with Finn and Family! Finn was a little bashful around Meredith...playing the coy card gets 'em every time!
Then Finn showed his Uncle Tommy his train blocks...
And Tommy showed Finn his own personal "Clap your hands" techniques! (Very good, Tommy!)
After all that fun, nothing ends the day better than a bath! (He's practicing for his Halloween costume as Mother Teresa...)

Up, up and away!

Finn's been working on standing up lately! Let's follow along, shall we?

"Ok, I'm totally gonna do this. These bars can't hold me back!""Ok, on my knees now. Pause to look out the bars and smile cutely...don't want them to get scared now that I can do pretty much anything..."
"...Just...need...to...reach...top...of...crib. WHEW. Ok...next...step...to stand...wow, I am really out of shape...I better get back in touch with my personal trainer, Bolt."
"And...LEAN! Pull chin up to the top bar, pause to check out the view...yeah, that's sweet. Must...move...legs...forward..."
"BINGO! How you like me now, crib?! Totally awesome."
That Finn's a worker!

Silly Boy!

"Clapping my hands is hilarious! I mean, have you ever tried it?""I like sitting on the porch swing with Mom...but Mom, holding my hands apart totally won't keep me from clapping them. My hand clap is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with!"
"You should see me crawl, and I'm even pulling myself up, too! Luckily for you, I'm very ticklish which is currently preventing me from clapping my hands."
"Ok, Mommy, let's STRETCH and tickle...look how tall I am!!"
"I'm getting bigger all the time...can'tcha see?!"
Yes, Finn. We can definitely see! :)

Birthday Bash!

Finn attended the birthday party for one of his Yoga buddies, Ryan!
We think that Finn was taking notes for upcoming birthday festivities...One thing he seemed to like was the little firetruck centerpieces...
He was very happy to see his Daddy again after a weekend away, and his Daddy was very happy to see him, too. All the Bakers are back in Bakertown...and Finn's got a busy month of visitors in September - Uncle Tommy, Vermont Grandma and cousin Jake and Crew! (not to be confused with J. Crew)
